Where each chain length sits on an average adult. Lengths are measured end to end, clasp included. A pendant sits about ½–1 inch lower than its chain.

Men's chain lengths: 18, 20, 22 and 24 inch gold chains worn together on a man in a black t-shirt

Women's necklace lengths: 18 to 26 inch fine gold chains worn together on a woman

How to measure

Use a necklace you already like: lay it flat and measure from end to end, clasp included.
Or use a string: put it around your neck, let it hang where you want the chain to sit, mark the point where the ends meet and measure the string.
Choose the nearest length. If you are between two, the longer one is easier to wear.

Lengths sit differently with build and neck size, so treat the chart as a guide. For layering, choose lengths about 2 inches apart.
